3 more beers

We are trying to find beers on the To-Do list that people have suggested. Bevmo has a good amount of them, but there are still a couple that have been out of grasp. Anyway here are a few beers we finished over the weekend. Check them out! Just click the picture for the review.

Home Brewing Tip

Last night while we were taking down a couple Guinness, Jason noticed that the wrapping on his bottle was ripped. Having OCD, he started peeling off the bottle wrap until it was completely off. This unwrapped bottle is perfect for all you home brewers trying to bottle up your beer. There are no logos, imprinted numbers, painted colors, and the bottle is dark itself to protect the beer from the sun. Just make sure to get the Guinness without the bullet; it might be a pain taking those out of each bottle. Buy a re-capper and some blank caps and you can start making your own personal line of bottled beer.

3 More Steps Down the Thick Beer Road

3 new beers were just added to the Beer List. You can also check out our JohnsonBeerChronicles page on Facebook.

We put up a Stone Imperial Russian Stout, Big Sky Moose Drool, and a Dechutes Black Butte Porter. Hopefully this gives you some suggestions of what to get and what not to get for this next 4th of July weekend. Keep it safe and Bogart that beer!

On The Wall Beer

For Father’s Day, Mike’s wife got him some cool brews from this website. I’m pretty jealous, but it’s alright I’ll have my day. She ordered a pack of 6 different darker ales and stouts, all of which are supposedly rare and hard to find. He also got an ale with a customized label. It had a Jolly Rogers picture in the middle and was called Johnson Brethren’s Scurvy Spirits. Translates to Johnson Brother’s Effing Alcohol. haha It is bitchin. Anyways, we have tried 4 of those beers so far, including a couple different Stone’s over the weekend. I will post them as soon as I can get the pictures and review paper from Mike.

This is an awesome site for beer lovers and for anyone looking for a fun gift. Check it out. We are going to order each of the beers that they have. We are thinking of making a weekly or monthly Wall of Shame for nasty beers. What do you think, good idea or bad?

wtf…

Everything we did and updated these past two weeks is gone… what a waste of time. back to the drawing board. WOW this is so incredibly frustrating. Applause to tumblr for having such a bad glitch. I think this is the sign I’ve been waiting for. I’m going to move all of our stuff to GoDaddy. I don’t care that we need to pay for it. I don’t want to take the chance of this happening again.

There are no strong beers, only weak men

3 more to the list

Mike and I tried out a few beers yesterday, and we just posted them on the beerlist. check them out. We are going to try a couple more Stone Brewing beers tomorrow and hopefully get a couple of the “update” beers out of the way. Working on creating a rating chart, looking to post that up in a week. Thanks for hits!

Landshark Island Style Lager by Margaritaville Brewing Co

A bit disappointed, too much like a regular light beer. The review will go up when Mike gets to try it out also.

Working on the Guinness Extra Stout review right now, but I’m trying something different with this beer. Hopefully I finish it tonight.

I know the updates are taking a while. My sincere apologies. I’m still rewriting some of the reviews. We want to make sure that we give you the best detail for our critiques, and that is why some of the reviews aren’t posted and others are short. We are reading up on some different categories of beer and how each is brewed differently. Knowledge is power. Be ready, as we are thinking about opening a website instead of this blog to make things more user friendly. Wish us luck. Thanks all!

Stone Brewery Roadtrip

Our friend Marco, Mike, and I jumped in the car and headed up to Escondido on Saturday to visit the Stone brewery for the first time. After a lunch at Buca di Bepo, Universal City Walk, we picked Marco up from Hollywood and hopped onto the freeway. Too bad it took us over 3 hours to get there. There was real bad traffic for about 70% of the way, but it does make sense, being a summer Saturday. We arrived at around 5:30 pm, and all the tours were booked, but that didn’t stop Mike from trying to sweet talk everyone, from our waiter to the security guard, to get wrist bands. It didn’t work, but it’s alright, we plan on going back up within the next month.

The brewery is HUGE. We were so surprised when we walked in, it was a little overwhelming. They have a bistro and from what I remember 4 bars. Luckily we grabbed a table close to the outside bar, because the lines to order drinks were 20 people long. Mike and I both got Oaked Arrogant Bastard Ales and Imperial Russian Stouts. Then I got a Cali-Belgique IPA, and he got a Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale. Marco got 2 Levitation Ales, a Smoked Porter and a Pale Ale. The beers were all great, of course, and we only stopped ordering due to the 2 hour drive home.

We also didn’t realize how early the Stone store closed. Our chance to get a couple growlers slipped right through our fingers. It’s alright though, the growlers and the tour give us a good reason for another road trip. Maybe next time we can join the micro-brew golfer hat gang. You’d understand what I mean if you ever visit any brewery.

From left to right: Smoked Porter, Cali-Belgique IPA, Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale, and the empty one is the Imperial Russian Stout. Thats my pretty torso in the back.
